Of German, Irish and Armenian descent, Kardashian was born as Kimberly Noel Kardashian. She was born on October 21, the daughter of OJ Simpson's defense attorney Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner. Kim's step-father is 1976 Olympic Games gold medalist, Bruce Jenner. Kim and her three siblings grew up in a world of immense privilege. They would eat at the finest restaurants, wear the latest designer fashions and attend the best schools. While attending an exclusive all-girls Catholic high school, Kim worked at her father's music marketing firm. She later on furthered her entrepreneurial instincts into a booming career as a wardrobe stylist for magazine photo layouts, infomercials and TV programs.

Kim befriended such socialites as Nicky Hilton, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton. Her party pals were there for her when she established the high-end Calabasas fashion boutique called Dash, along with her sisters, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.

Over the past few years, Kim Kardashian been romantically linked with rapper The Game, actor Nick Cannon, pop star Nick Lachey, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and music producer Damon Thomas, whom she married in 2000. The couple divorced four years later.

However, it has been her relationship with R&B artist Ray J, that has made Kim the subject of attention. Her name hit the tabloids when she announced that she was taking legal action against the distribution of a graphic sex tape of her and her then-boyfriend Ray J. Adult film company, Vivid Entertainment, purchased the tape and made it available online in 2007. Kim Kardashian later dropped the suit and settled with Vivid Entertainment for five million dollars. Kim Kardashian currently stars in her family's reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which premiered at the end of 2007.
